Why use Adroit Photo Forensics?

Most of our customers already use AccessData's Forensic Took Kit and/or Guidance Software's Encase to process their cases. The question we get from our customers is whether they need a specialized product to handle photo evidence. We believe the answer is a resounding yes and here is why:

  1. Unique Recovery: APF recovers fragmented photos.
Several studies have shown that photographic files fragment more than other file types. For example, JPEG files stored on disks are fragmented 20% of the time. Adroit Photo Forensics being the only product that can recover fragmented photos will immediately boost your evidence collection rate.

  2. Maximum Recovery: APF understands variations and subtleties of photo file types.
Photographs are created by a variety of devices. Each of these devices may introduce a variety of photo format idiosyncrasies. Adroit was built to handle and understand the variations in file structures for photo file types which other products can not.

  3. Highest Quality Recovery: APF validates photos so that invalid photos are separated out.
These days computers can have hundreds of thousands of photos on a single drive. A lot of these photos may be partial or corrupt. Adroit is the only forensic product currently available that decodes and validates all the images so that the invalid images are separated out from the correct ones.

  4. Photo Specific Searching: APF searches through photos using photo specific properties.
Photos may contain a lot of metadata in the form of EXIF/IPIC which can help in investigations. Adroit Photo Forensics is the only product that lets you group, sort and view photos using specific properties like Camera, Software, EXIF Date etc.

  5. Photo Content Filtering: APF has filters for Child Explicit Detections and Fuzzy Hashing.
Content recognition is a key component for efficient processing of photo evidence. Effective content recognition and filtering can help cut down the hours spent on a photo centric investigation. Adroit Photo Forensics ships with explicit image detection (EID), child explicit image detection (CEID), and fuzzy hashing/MD5 alerts.

  6. Advanced Categorization: APF features multi-level automatic and manual categorization.
Photo categorization can be an extremely tedious process. Adroit provides the most advanced categorization process. MD5 and SmartHashes can be use to categorize known images, SmartFiltering and EID can be be used to categorize unknown images and finally, manual categorization can be done from any screen and on single photos or a group of photos.
